Major projects
The Projects Team are involved in three main areas of work. As a team we are responsible for the delivery of the capital programme involving the roll out of the projects necessary to fulfil the Strategic Plan set by The Council. We also assist in ensuring that the authority purchase goods, works and services in accordance with the procurement policy across the entire Council. Finally, we are involved in the monitoring and management of our coastline and natural capital as part of our responsibilities as Coast Protection Authority. A varied and enjoyable workload where no two days are the same.
Economic Development
The Economic Development team work across local town centres to revive their vibrancy and connectivity, whilst also supporting culture, tourism and managing the Castle Hill Work Hub in Great Torrington. We link with our Parish Councils to engage, understand and support their aims.
The team leads on the development of regeneration projects, such as the Appledore Clean Maritime Innovation Centre, and using regeneration to attract investment and job creation. The team also provides a key point of contact with local communities, feeding information in on local need to support the Planning department, including with needs around local green spaces and active travel whilst supporting key partners in their delivery of health and wellbeing projects.
