About Torridge District Council
Located in Northern Devon, we're the Local Authority for the area of Torridge. We look after our residents and visitors providing a wide range of services, including the planning and building control and collection of waste and recycling. All this in an area of 984 square km with a population of 67,000, it's no easy task but our teams work hard to provide the best positive service.
Our team of 230+ employees are integral to supporting our local area. As a local authority, being impartial is important to us, ensuring nothing deters us from helping our customers.
We're always looking for innovative and smart individuals for a multitude of roles within our departments. We understand that for the best to come out of our employees we need to invest in their development. Our employees have completed Masters Degrees, PRINCE2 qualifications and more through our training scheme.
This is at the heart of everything we do. We are focused on making our area a better place to live, work and visit, so the community is always in our minds.
Our Community Grant Scheme has helped fund vital projects in both our towns and rural locations, including refurbishments of clubs, equipment for sports teams and even an engine for a boat! Our Officers have been directly involved in regenerating our towns and villages, as well as working with local working groups to assist in their smaller projects.
We hold our values in high regards and are the foundation in which our work is built on. They are 'Working with others', 'Delivering excellent customer service', 'Adapting and responding to change' and 'Displaying and promoting professional integrity'. Find out more about values.
